Our objective was to increase both the energy efficiency of the building and increase air, wind and water permeability.
Our clients objective was to keep the aesthetics and traditional look of the property but to increase the performance of the windows and reduce the long term maintenance of the building.
The project involved supplying and installing custom made Aluminium Clad/Timber sliding sash Insert windows.
The windows had “Coconut Cream” aluminium cladding and painted timber white internals, complete with polished chrome ironmongery.
With the property being located on a busy road the acoustic performance of the windows also had to be increased from 28db to 34db, this was achieved by changing the outer layer of glass to a 10mm panel, thus allowing the reverberation of the double glazed unit to change and therefore increasing the performance.
Due to restricted access around the property the inward tilting sashes also eliminated the need for scaffolding/ladders for the cleaning of the windows.
